The Great Gatsby

Money money money money, MONEY
Money money money money, MONEY
Money money money money, MONEY
Money money money money, MONEY
Money money money money, MONEY
Money money money money, MONEY
Some people got to have it
Hey, Hey, Hey - some people really need it
Hey, listen to me, y'all do thangs, do thangs, do thangs - bad thangs with it
Well, you wanna do thangs, do thangs, do thangs - good thangs with it - yeah
Un Huh, talkin' bout cash money, money
Talkin' bout cash money - dollar bills y'all - come on, now
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
For the love of money
People will steal from their mother
For the love of money
People will rob their own brother
For the love of money
People can't even walk the streets
Because they'll never know who in the world they're gonna beat
For that mean, oh mean, mean green
Almighty Dollar!
Cash Money
For the love of money
People will lie, rob, they will cheat
For the love of money
People don't care who they hurt or beat
For the love of money
A woman will sell her precious body
For a small piece of paper it carries a lot of weight
Oh, that mean, mean, mean, mean, mean green
Almighty Dollar!
Talkin' bout, talkin' bout - cash
I know that money is the root of all evil
Do funny things to some people
Give me a nickel, brother can you spare a dime
Money can drive some people out of their minds
For the love of money
No good, no good, no good
For the love of money
Don't sell ya soul for the money - no, no
For the love of money
Lay down, lay down - women will
Money is the root of all evil
Do funny things to some people
Give me a nickel, brother can you spare a dime
Money can drive some people out of their minds
For the love of money
Got to have it - I really need it
For the love of money
Give it up, give it up, give it up - yeah
For the love of money
Got to have it - some people really need it
For the love of money
Give me, give me, give me - cash money
For the love of money
I need - I need
For the love of money
Keep me, keep me, keep me - happy
For the love of money
For the love of money
How many days have I heard ya say
For the love of money
Don't let it, don't let it - don't let money rule ya
For the love of money
How many days have I heard ya say
For the love of money
Don't let it, don't let it - don't let it, don't let money fool you, no
For the love of money
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
For the love of money
Got to have it - I really need it
Don't do it - don't do it
Brother - save ya soul - save ya soul - don't sell it
For that mean, mean, mean, mean green
People, don't let money, don't let money change you
Almighty Dollar!

People, don't let money, don't let money change you
Almighty Dollar!

People, don't let money, don't let money change you
Almighty Dollar!

For The Love Of Money
by O'Jays

The reason i picked this song is because its the one and only american dream, to be rich. In the Novel of The Great Gatsby everyone wants to be or already is rich. The prime examples are Gatsby and Tom. They are rich , surrounded by nothing but wealth. They both have extravigant mansions. They love to show it off to. And an example of people tring to reach the high-life would be Myrtle and Meyer Wolfshiem. Myrtle lives in the vally of ashes which is a subburm to New York City. Meyer is just a city slicker all he wants and desires is money. He supposedly fixed the 1919 world series and is now on the run. He's your average old school mobster tring to make a quick buck to stay afloat. Thats all every character in this love drunk novel wants. Everyone but Nick, nick sits comfortably. He doesnt have money to the point that he sits bored and runs around his house at 2am. But he doesnt have so little money that he needs to work and make more money to pay his bills and feed him self. He doesnt showboat like everyone else eiher. All the rich are the showboating type. Tom physically throws nick around like a rag doll to show off his house and is all about "aha i have more money then you pal!" It just seemed like the best song for this Novel over all.
The main theme in Chapter one is The American Dream. In our society the american dream is to achieve wealth, own a home, and to become sucessful. In the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitgerald the main character Nick tries to achieve the american dream. He does this by haveing and education, moving to New York and becomeing a bonds man.
Nick had the opertunity to better himself in life by going to college at Yale University and serving in the military. Nick grew up in the mid-west and there is not much out there He decided to move to New York where there was more people and plenty of more job options. With the bigger population and almost endless job options there was a bigger shot at either reaching your dream or possibly coming close to it. New York is alot different than the west. Its different by the fact that in NY its busier, richer, and more talked about. Finaly Nick deciding to become a bomds man put him one step closer to reaching his dream. His family wanted him to be a be a bonds man and he thought he could make some real money by becoming one. Nick in his on mind achieved his dream. He only got there by having self set goals and working hard to reach those goals. It was the dream of money and possible riches that pushed him to rieach what Nick finally got a slice of the cake of.
