In chapter four in the Great Gatsby, Gatsby wants to ask Nick for a favor. Gatsby however will not tell Nick. NIck does not understand why Gatsby will not tell. So instead Gatsby sets up Nick to have tea with Jordan Baker and tell him everything. Jordan goes and tells Nick how Gatsby and DAisy know each other. She tells him how they meet and how much they were(and still) in love. Then Jordan askes Nick if he will call Daisy over so Gatsby and her can get reunited(with out her knowing). I picked this picture because it symbolizes how Jordan has to tell Nick a secret. She has to tell him the truth that Gatsby could not bring him to say. That is why i got this picture.

A major factor in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is death imagery. In chapter 4 Nick is going down a list of guest that where at one of Gatsby’s parties on July 5th, 1922.On the list were the Leeches, Blackbucks, Ferrets, Bulls, Duckweed, and many others. Sadly they all died. All the people in part of this either drowned, had an affair, jumped off a building, or just plainly died. All of these events illustrate how something can go so wrong when everything in the world is right.
Another factor with the people that died after the party was over is that they all had names of animals because they lacked human emotion. Of these people at the party they all seemed robotic in a way. They seemed like this because they were lifeless. They did not care what people thought of them or how they were perceived. They did what they wanted and asked questions later.
Also another element in the party goers’ was the fact that while the lives of the rich seem perfect they are not. Their lives are not perfect because almost everyone that goes to Gatsby’s parties lie every day. Whatever it’s to the people they love or a bum on the street. They all have “holes” in their lives. The “holes” in their lives are all the mistakes, regrets, guilty thoughts, and actions that have been regrettable from the start. Common people envy rich people because what they have we want. But what we do not realize is that we’re the lucky ones. That is why rich people’s life’s are not perfect.
